1. JOURNEYS OF THE HEART - PERSONAL MUSINGS

Hi everyone!
The past month and a half's been a big, exciting time for me.

First was the annual AIDS LifeCycle ride from San Francisco to LA. It's a week-long ride of 2300+ cyclists and 500+ roadies coming together to raise AIDS awareness and money for critically needed HIV services. We raised 11 million dollars!! It's an intense, emotional and fulfilling trip. I work as a roadie assisting the cyclists on the Sweep team. I'd like to be able to do more volunteer work on a daily basis but due to my work schedule I can't - so one week a year I put everything aside to work for something good at a bigger scale in the world. It's a hard week but in the end it feels really good.

For all of you who supported me and sponsored me on this year's ride and came to my various fundraisers, I thank you. I could not have gone through some of those tough moments without your support.

Second bit of excitement was tying the knot.
No, no, I don't mean in a rope-bondage sort of way. I mean in the getting-married sort of way. We had a lovely back yard ceremony with a small group of dear friends, a green tea and chocolate cake from Citizen Cake and a big pig roast from Memphis Minnie's BBQ. A beautiful day, great friends, a fabulous padre with great words, delicious food, a lovely garden, a low key but laughter-filled celebration for me and my amazing spouse. I'm very happy.

It's been a delightful couple of weeks at home. Now the summer tour starts!
